Final approval has been given for the implementation of the new curriculum from pre-primary to tenth class. In the meantime, piloting of the new curriculum is going on in 72 secondary level educational institutions. Piloting of the new curriculum will start in August in 75 government primary schools.
The final approval for the implementation of the curriculum was given at a meeting held on Monday (May 30) afternoon at the International Mother Tongue Institute in the capital to approve the new curriculum for pre-primary to class X. The meeting was jointly organized by the National Curriculum Coordinating Committee (NCCC) and the National Advisory Committee on Education. It was chaired by the Minister of Education. Dipu Moni.
It is learned that the new curriculum for primary, secondary, technical, and madrasa education was discussed in front of the national level committee and final approval was given for its implementation. Piloting is going on in the implementation of the secondary curriculum. Primary piloting will also begin. No negative comments were found about the piloting. After the overall discussion on these issues, final approval has been given for the implementation of the new curriculum.
With the approval of the primary, secondary (sixth to twelfth), madrasa and technical new curriculum can be implemented. The meeting also discussed the views of students and teachers on behalf of the education administration visiting the piloting institutes. If the new curriculum is implemented, there will be a radical change in the education system. This course will be helpful in the development of children.
According to the decision of the government, after the pilot implementation this year, the new curriculum will be introduced in different classes in phases from next year. In 2023, first, second, sixth, and seventh class; 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 9th class in 2024; In 2025, The new curriculum will be introduced in fifth and tenth classes. After that, The curriculum will be introduced in 2026 in class XI of higher secondary and in 2028 in class XII.
The new curriculum will have a more continuous assessment (learning) in the educational institution than the existing examinations from pre-primary to higher secondary level. There will be no examination till the third class. The whole assessment will be based on a variety of learning activities throughout the year. As a method of evaluating the next classes, there are both examinations and continuous learning activities.
The new curriculum will not have SSC and HSC examinations like now. SSC examination will be based only on the 10th class syllabus. There will be two public examinations in classes XI and XII. This examination will be held under the board at the end of each year. The final result of HSC will be published by combining the results of these two examinations.
In addition, in the new curriculum, from now on, students will study in the same syllabus till the 10th class. Students will study science, humanities, or commerce, the division will be in the eleventh grade.
In the new curriculum, 10 types of learning areas have been fixed from pre-primary to tenth class. These are language and communication, mathematics and logic, life and livelihood, society and global citizenship, environment and climate, science and technology, information and communication technology, physical and mental health, safety, values and ethics, and art and culture. There will be no separate books for pre-primary children, teachers will teach.
Earlier, in September last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the outline of the new curriculum in principle. Now that the two ministries have officially approved the NCCC, its formality is over.
